The gates of the 12th International Conference on Position Sensitive Detectors have closed. The hybrid event, with both in-person and virtual attendance, marked the first appearance of the FleX-RAY project in front of the technological and scientific community. More specifically, Dr. Scott Wilbur from the University of Sheffield has given a poster presentation on “Flexible X-Ray Imaging Detectors Using Scintillating Fibres.”
The post-conference highlights are remarkably positive and offer interesting perspectives to the discussion on FleX-RAY and the many possibilities of the project. In a nutshell, FleX-RAY appeared to have impressed the attendees of the conference. Inspired by the project’s work on scintillating fibres, fruitful exchanges have commenced on the concept of meta-scintillators. At the same time, there were early discussions with professionals from the health-tech sector about using FleX-RAY technology. The conference proceedings will be published in the Journal of Instrumentation (JINST), a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal, to publicise the projects, disseminate the ideas, and support the research community’s needs.
